Dreamlife Feb 28 - Robin

Type: work dream (stress?)
People: Jean-Marie, Sue M., Ian
Featured: staff meeting

Before I get on to dream content, I am bummed because I forgot one dream about skiing and scarfs. I had gone through the details of this dream many times so I could record it and was about to get up to do that when I remembered the work dream.  In piecing together that dream, it totally knocked out the ski/scarf dreams.  Also, in the dream below, something dark or tragic happened but I can't remember that either.  What remains is deadly dull. Really a bust of a night.

This remembering takes a lot of work and practice (but is a necessary precursor to lucid dreaming).  One dream memory tip—and this has been proven in sleep lap settings multiple times—stay in the position in which you dreamed while working on your dream detail recall.  I did that, but still couldn't get the ski/scarf dream back.

There was a meeting of our unit at work at UCSC.   I had things to do and didn't want to go to the meeting so I attempted to slide out with Ian. Jean-Marie was talking on the stage and saw my attempt and said: "Robin, you have to stay." I did as told.  She was talking about moving our unit to a new institute that was being built near Porter, but away from residential students.  I thought this was rather stupid given that our unit was Student Affairs.  Why did we want to get farther from students?

I later saw Sue M. and she told me not to worry as that move wasn't going to happen.

Annotation

Jean-Marie was the head of our unit when I worked at UCSC.  Sue was second-in-command after her. Ian worked with me at Kresge.  Both Sue and Ian are friends of mine.

One of my big dreamsigns—the things that make clear that you are dreaming—are dreams about working at UCSC.  I dream about it all the damn time. As Leslie mentioned in her post of yesterday, part of the reason to do this remembering/dream log is figure out what our dreamsigns are so we can realized that we must be dreaming (which is one step from lucid dreaming).  I go to bed at night saying to myself:  "If I have a dream that I am working at UCSC, I am dreaming!" but to no avail. Yet.
